Faculty of Law, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, Holds Academic Seminar on "Marriage Equality: Status and Legal Implications for Family Law"

On July 17, 2025, the Faculty of Law at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kamonwan Youwattana, Dean of the Faculty of Law, along with faculty members, staff, and students, organized an academic seminar on the topic “Marriage Equality: Status and Legal Implications for Family Law.” The seminar was held under the project titled Legal Academic Forum for Social Development, and was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Pitsanu Phunpetphan, Advisor to the President of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, at the Sunanthanusorn Auditorium.

The seminar was honored by the presence of distinguished speakers:

• Prof. Dr. Pairoj Kampusiri, Visiting Professor, Faculty of Law, Chulalongkorn and Thammasat Universities
• Prof. Kikuo Nishizawa, Dean, Faculty of Policy Studies, Kansai University, Japan
• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Matalak Seramethakul, Lecturer, Faculty of Law, Thammasat University
• Khun Tunyawat Kamolwattana, Member of Parliament and drafter of the Marriage Equality Bill
• Asst. Prof. Dr. Korsut Khophuangklang, Lecturer, Faculty of Law, Thammasat University (Moderator)

The event featured a discussion and exchange of views on legal issues concerning same-sex couples, potential legal practices, and perspectives from international experiences. Participants included legal experts, government officials, and representatives of the LGBTQ+ community.
