Since the political
and administrative reforms until the
Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand
B.E. 2540, Thailand has undergone
continuous political, economic, and
social changes. People are interested in
studying the law and are aware of the
rights and freedoms guaranteed by the
Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand.
The emergence of various independent
organisations such as the Constitutional
Court, the Administrative Court, the
National Anti-Corruption Commission, the
Election Commission, and the Human
Rights Commission, etc., and the
performance of government agencies that
are bound by the law in exercising their
power, which have to be fair and have
standards in performing government
duties as prescribed by law. Moreover,
Thailand decentralising power in
providing public services to local
administrative organisations has created
a great demand for personnel with
knowledge of the law.
Suan Sunandha Rajabhat
University has recognised the need for
legal personnel. Therefore, it has
opened the Bachelor of Laws program for
the first time in the academic year
2007. The program is operated by the Law
Department under the Drunpitaya
Education Center. In the academic year
2009, the program was moved to the
Faculty of Humanities and Social
Sciences. Later in 2020, the Suan
Sunandha Rajabhat University Council
agreed to organise the teaching of
related programs to be operated by the
same unit. Therefore, it is important to
combine the Law Department and the
Administration Department under the
Faculty of Humanities and Social
Sciences and the Political Science
Department under the College of
Innovation and Management and then
establish the College of Politics and
Governance.
There
are the changes that have occurred in
global society after the COVID-19
pandemic, and the changes in science and
technology are borderless network
mediums. These make the boundaries that
drive development more challenging.Suan
Sunandha Rajabhat University is a higher
education institution with the vision of
being a leader in creating professional
talent for sustainable social
development. Its mission is to drive
every part of the organisation under a
development strategy that requires
graduates to possess professional
knowledge. Cultivate professional,
ethical, and moral talents, and develop
an education management system. The
additional missions are to create
learning innovations and improve
administration to meet international
standards, conduct research, and create
innovations and creative works at the
national and international levels for
sustainable use. It would create
networks of academic services to drive
national strategy, focusing on
developing the capabilities of graduates
to become quality human resources with
knowledge, skills, and expertise in
professional disciplines that are
overflowing with morality and ethics.
These would be done under the management
of internal departments that have
specific characteristics according to
the identity of the learner. The
university has a mission to efficiently
achieve the roles and duties under the
strategy for the production and
development of professional and specific
personnel (specialised and professional)
of the Ministry of Higher Education,
Science, Research, and Innovation.It is
important to integrate cooperation from
all sectors; the flexibility in resource
management, budget management, and
academic administration for student
development, research development, and
academic services to be up-to-date by
specialised educational management units
to perform the duties of providing
public educational services according to
professional knowledge. The separation
of the efficiency internal department
from the college that combines many
departments is a light of development.
It will support and push the curriculum
to be able to develop the potential of
graduates to be academically
strengthened, create confidence, and be
widely accepted by the external society,
especially professional organisations
and employers of graduates. Therefore,
the Council of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat
University, at the 4/2567 meeting on
April 24, 2567, agreed to separate the
Department of Law from the College of
Politics and Governance and establish
the "Faculty of Law." This
establishment will produce, promote, and
develop the nation's human resources
to have legal excellence, morality, and
ethics for sustainable social
development according to the standards
of legal professionals. The Faculty of
Law would develop and enhance knowledge,
research, and comprehensive legal
academic services with a standardised
teaching system.
